Christopher Abrahams is a dynamic professional with a multifaceted background and a remarkable presence in the coffee industry, complemented by his experience in sales and brand management. Born with an insatiable passion for learning and excellence, with tertiary studies in electrical engineering and marketing management.
In the world of coffee, Chris has worked in the industry since 2012, taking on a variety of roles that include technical support, technical coordination, sales consulting, brand management, category management, key accounts, and regional training. His diverse experience allows him to understand multiple facets of the business, making him a valuable asset in any team. Moreover, he has served as a sales and customer relationship executive, which has honed his skills in building lasting connections with clients and partners.
Chris founded TP Coffee Academy (Pty) Ltd. in the year 2023, where he shares his expertise and passion for coffee with aspiring baristas. Notably, he is the only South African to have made the national latte art championships. His passion is impressive 8 times in a row, runner-up 4 times, gaining the South African National Latte Art title in 2018, 2019 & 2026. His participation at the world championships in both Brazil and Germany marks significant achievements in his career. Chris believes that his 3rd World Latte Art Championship performance will be both meaningful and memorable.
In 2023, Chris achieved another remarkable milestone by winning the MilkLab Barista Battle South African Championship, allowing him to represent his country in Australia for the prestigious MilkLab Barista Battle World Title. As a member of the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA), he has received multiple globally accredited SCA certifications.
As a globally certified AST Trainer, Chris now offers a range of SCA accredited courses in brewing, barista skills, sensory skills, CVA, CtechP, roasting and Q Grading. In fact, in 2025, Chris became the first South African to become a CtechP AST trainer and the 2nd in the African continent to do so. In the same year, he also became the first SCA evolved Q-Instructor in South Africa. At the end of the year 2025, Chris was awarded "Coffee Instructor of The Year 2025". To this day, Chris is focused on empowering baristas to enhance their skills and knowledge. Driven by a relentless pursuit of mastery, Chris is also working toward a global coffee expert and hopes to continuously add value to the coffee industry in its entirety.
In addition to his work in the coffee industry, Chris is employed by Electrical Industries, where he sells a variety of esteemed brands, including Cinoart, WMF, Fiorenzato, Dr. Coffee, Apollo, Latte Art Factory, and Sanremo across Southern Africa. His dual role in both the coffee sector and the food service equipment industry enables him to bridge the gap between coffee enthusiasts and the tools needed for excellence.
With a unique blend of electrical engineering understanding and marketing expertise, alongside a deep commitment to the craft of coffee, Chris Abrahams continues to inspire and educate others while elevating the experience of coffee enjoyment.
